We implemented the complete Quadrature Amplitude Modulation scheme as a software simulation in Matlab. Due to the complexity of the design, we had to resort to a Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate the performance of the system. Our results on the balance between higher throughput and bit error rate matched theoretical values exactly. This project was done with Derek Sahota and Kamil Kisiel for a course on Communication Systems (ENSC327.)

If we didn’t run out of time, we would have implemented the system on a software defined radio (SDR) using GNU Radio.
